During this difficult time for everyone throughout the world, the Easter message of hope rings in our ears and we thank God that He is with us as we serve our community. So far this week we have given food to five families who are in difficulty. The number of families in need of help has increased, but both food and monetary donations continue to arrive. Ali Turbitt has managed to get Easter treats and goodies from Ikea, rolls, milk and lettuce from Burger King, 32 Easter eggs from Tesco. However, there are still things which we need ……. washing up liquid, antibacterial cleaning sprays, instant coffee, tinned ham, tinned vegetables and long grain rice. We provided 14 families whose children would normally have had a free school lunch with enough food for two weeks lunches on Monday. We now hope that for next week we should have no referrals but with the current situation we need to be prepared. Hence the following are the items we are in need of, chocolate spread, tinned ham, tinned spaghetti, tinned vegetables (peas, sweet corn, carrots)long grain rice, biscuits. Donations can be delivered to Jan Naylor, 01968 673222 or 07740 621814.
For the forseeable future we are encouraging folks to pray on Sunday evenings at 7pm for the nation and our communities at this time of international crisis. Below is a standing prayer for the current situation.
Below is Peter’s recommendation of 4 personal devotional sites to help us during this time of lock down.
